Why do they matter?
First – if you have a low core web vital score, Google may not rank your pages at all. A low score means poor user experience, and Google only wants to provide a good experience to its users.
Second – if you have a low score, even if your user DOES find you online. your website may take too long to load. User gets frustrated, and navigates away to a competitor site. This is especially a problem with poor mobile scores, since connections on mobile tend to be weaker then desktop. If your clients regularly search on mobile, speed matters much more!
And if you are running ads, speed matters even more!
Google says it considers how fast your website loads when deciding the quality score of your ads. The lower the quality score, the more your ad costs. If you have a slow website, this means you might be paying more for ads then you need to!
